Official announcement: MIHWA has decided to postpone the World Cup this year, to return in 2022. This was an agonising decision, but inevitable considering current global conditions. We hope you can all stay safe and strong until we all meet again!
Dear friends in hockey,
It is with a great deal of disappointment and sadness that the MIHWA Committee have today decided to postpone our Inline Hockey World Cup for another year, to resume in 2022.
The President of MIHWA, and all the Committee Members have deliberated and agonised over the decision for several weeks and months. We have consulted extensively with the host Federations, Local Authorities in Germany, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and World Skate, all in order to make the right decision. With the safety and health of our players, staff, family and friends as our first priority, we came to the inevitable conclusion, given the world conditions today, that it is sadly not possible to run the games this year.
We considered all possible options, to try and run the games under strict regulations for testing, quarantine and isolation; to delay the games until later in the summer, or later in the year; or to change the venue at the last minute. All of these, and other options were found to be impossible to achieve. We acknowledge with gratitude and admiration the hard work, passion and enthusiasm that we have shared with so many managers, players, fans and family, who have all remained faithful to our sport this last difficult year. No one could have imagined this pandemic would last this long, and affect so many around the globe. MIHWA would like to reassure you that despite this incredible challenge, we are now more determined than ever to bring the games back with such a force that it will be the greatest inline event anywhere in the world! We remain dedicated to the task, and behind the scenes have continued to develop the game, introducing improved experience for players, upgrades to the live stream and website, expanding the teams and introducing the Legends and soon the Women’s categories. So we hope that you will stay with us through this strange and challenging time, so that when we finally emerge from the darkness, the Inline masters, veterans, and legends World Cup will be a beacon of light and inspiration for everyone.
If you wish for more information please feel welcome to email us at MIHWA and we will do our best to help.
Thank you all for your patience and perseverance. MIHWA wishes you all good health and to stay safe with your families and friends this year.
We will see you again in 2022, and what a very special day it will be.
All the best to everyone.
MIHWA Committee.
