Europe is the heart of the MIHWA inline movement. At the core it represents the vast majority of players and teams within Inline, and Belgium is now adding to that depth, following on from near neighbours Germany, and MIHWA originals, and multi-Gold winning France. For Cyrille Blanchart, it’s the culmination of a dream. He says “I begin in Line hockey at 17 years old, and also on the Ice as many often do. My team won the Belgian Inline Championship in 2003, and went on to compete in the European club championships in 2004” But like all of us old players, the knees and hips go from us, and after some international tournaments in Germany in ’06 and ’07, Cyrille began to think about stopping, and hanging up the boots for good.

But the call of hockey remains alive in the mind if not the body, and the Rhinos of France called him to play again. “It was the team of kevin Loyeux who is on master team France. He said to call David Ninzatti and work on creating a team Belgium for MIHWA”

And so he did! Training began in August of last year with selection, and team training regularly since then. Cyrille is hopeful “We Hope to do a good tournament, The level of Belgium is not so high as our of Our neighbours in France, but some players know them well and played together in Euro leagues, and I continue to play in France to have a better level”.
