In a thrilling Round Robin matchup in the Women’s division, we were treated to a mini preview of the potential Final tomorrow, between Team USA and Team France in a high-stakes match that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final buzzer.
The game started with a bang as Horn scored the opening goal with an assist from Mehl right out of the gates. France quickly responded with a goal from Elodie Seiller, assisted by Marie Ravix. However, Horn struck again, this time with an assist from Amanda Hardwick, putting USA ahead 2-1 at the end of the 1st Half. In the 2nd Half, Elodie Seiller once again pounced on the net with her second goal of the game unassisted. The battle continued to attrition, with neither team able to break the deadlock in the 1st Overtime, the game moved to a Penalty Shootout to decide the winner. Charlotte Nicholson and Amanda Hardwick scoring for Team USA, while Aurore Gauthier found the back of the net for Team France. In the end, Team USA emerged victorious with a 4-3 win over Team France.
Both teams displayed exceptional skill and determination throughout the game, with shots on goal tied at 25 each. Goalies from both sides, including O’Hara Shipe and Danielle Stanard for USA, and Gaelle Blanquet and Stephanie Heinen for France, put on a stellar performance between the pipes. Team USA maintains their spot at the top of the standings with 11 points and a 0.917 win percentage, while Team France sits in second place with 7 points and a 0.778 win percentage.
Looking ahead, Team France will face Italy in their next game, aiming to bounce back from this narrow defeat.
